BDOVELO North 2023

Following the rather damp (character building - Ed.) conditions for BDOVelo North in 2022, our 2023 event held on 25 May 2023 was blessed by some amazing weather. Hosted by BDO colleagues from both the Leeds and Manchester offices, we had 22 guests in attendance providing great networking opportunities, and a fantastic time was had by all.

We met at the Utopia café, Broughton Hall near Skipton for coffee and pastries before heading out westwards in three groups. Not content with the amazing cycling roads in Yorkshire, we headed over into Lancashire (absolutely no rivalry there - Ed.), always on scenic and quiet country roads.

Two groups tackled the long route (45 miles) which included the challenging climb of Waddingham Fell, complete with a Strava challenge for those who fancied pushing themselves a bit harder! After a short pause to enjoy the view and re-group, we enjoyed the decent and met up with the third group doing the shorter route (35 miles) at a delightful café for coffee and cake.

A flatter route back to Broughton Hall in the sunshine was a great way to finish; there we were able to continue catching up with everyone over a tasty lunch.

All in all, a great networking event, with sunshine and smiles - and on top of that, we also raised nearly £500 for Blood Cancer UK. Thanks to Struggle Events who did a fantastic job as always, organising and supporting us out on the road.
