Actuarial Services
Financial Services
I am an actuary specialising in non-life insurance working within both BDO’s Financial Services Advisory and Financial Services Audit. I am a Fellow of the Institute and Faculty (IFoA) of actuaries and a Chartered Enterprise Risk Actuary (CERA).
I help clients and audited entities manage financial risks using modelling and analytics. Typically, this involves developing, or providing assurance over, accounting estimates within the context of financial and regulatory reporting. For example, calculating technical provisions, calculating solvency capital requirements under Solvency II, forward looking resilience testing, climate change impact modelling, and pricing/structuring of reinsurance contracts. I also get involved in helping clients improve how they control, manage, and communicate the outputs of their models.
My clients and audited entities are predominantly non-life insurance and reinsurance companies operating within the London Market, personal lines insurers in the UK and Gibraltar. For example, I lead the actuarial function of two third country branches of overseas (re)insurers and am the Auditor’s Expert for two Lloyd’s of London underwriting syndicates. I always ensure I relay complex information in a relatable way, keeping it relevant to the client’s/audited entity’s situation.
Away from work I like to recharge batteries by spending time with my two children, listening to music, reading literature, catching up with friends and exercising.
