Not for Profit
I am an Audit Partner at BDO, leading our Not for Profit team in Scotland as well as auditing a broad range of privately owned and private equity backed businesses. I lead the audit for some of Scotland’s best-known charity's - providing sectoral input wherever possible. I enjoy interactions with the management of the entities I audit and, as part of my interest in the sector, I have held many voluntary roles, including nine years as a Board Member and Chair of the Audit & Risk Committee of one of Scotland's largest Housing Associations, as well as Treasurer of a well-known charity.
I am also the Regional Managing Partner for BDO’s Scottish Business. With both external and internal elements, this role allows me the opportunity to gain knowledge of our business, support the wider BDO team that provide such a broad range of services to the market, and link up people from within and outside the business. In addition, the 2013 merger of BDO and PKF, which I led locally, was not only a significant transaction but also provided an excellent platform to build our business to where it is today.
Away from work I am a keen follower of sport and am currently the Non Executive Director responsible for Finance at Ice Hockey UK, the sports governing body for Ice Hockey. We are responsible for, and run, all GB Teams from Under 16 to the Senior Men and Women. I have also Chaired World Championship tournament Organising Committees, a role which utilises some of my audit project management learnings! Previously I was a rugby coach and referee and President of my local club over many years. These activities provide an opportunity to support others while switching off form the day job!
