Jonathan Lanes

As the Head of Risk Advisory Services (RAS) for BDO UK I lead a national team of governance, risk, and controls specialists. I am also the manufacturing sector lead for RAS and the Midlands region. My role is to ensure we bring together the best experts and specialists to serve our clients.

With over 20 years of experience, I specialise in internal audit, risk management, and corporate governance. My client portfolio includes large private businesses and UK listed companies with global operations. I have worked across various sectors, including Manufacturing, Consumer Markets, Real Estate, Construction and Building Products, Life Sciences, and Pharmaceuticals. Additionally, I have experience in the not-for-profit sector, including Social Housing, Charities, and Education.

My focus is on helping clients improve their internal controls, risk management frameworks, and corporate governance and I excel in coordinating teams across the world to deliver high-quality work. I am also skilled in facilitating workshops with Boards, Audit and Risk Committees, and Executive Management teams.

I am a fellow of the ICAEW and have been a committee member of the Midlands Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) for over ten years. I also run a forum for Heads of Internal Audit and Risk.
