David Britton

David is a Chartered Accountant and UK corporate tax specialist with over 20 years’ experience of advising start-ups, challenger banks, multinational inbound and outbound banks, fintechs and more recently cryptoasset clients on structuring advice, due diligence, ad-hoc advisory to tax risk management, process and controls and local/multicountry tax compliance engagements.    

Having spent 5 years at a UK headquartered global bank as Global Head of Tax Reporting and Head of UK Direct Tax Compliance, David uses his vast experience of both in-house and as a consultant to provide both technical and practical tax advice to clients.

David is BDO’s cryptoasset tax champion and has advised a number of clients on a wide variety of tax issues including the tax treatment of trading on blockchain, use of cryptoassets and Initial Coin Offerings (ICO’s). He is a member of HMRC’s cryptoasset working party.
