Aaron Winter

I am a Partner within BDO's Public Sector Internal Audit team, leading the delivery of internal audit and advisory services to Local Government and NHS organisations across London and the South East.

Through my extensive experience of managing and delivering such services to these sectors over the past 18 years, I continue to be passionate about the work we do in this space. I feel proud that what we do supports our public services to deliver more efficient and effective services to their communities.

To do this effectively, I prioritise building good, honest and trusted relationships with my clients, that span the organisation to ensure that as a team we bring value through the work we do, the way we do it, and at the right time. I'm fortunate I can leverage client secondment experiences where I have operated as the Head of Internal Audit and Investigations within Local Government organisations. This provided me with a unique experience, exposing me to the inner workings of the clients that I normally serve on a daily basis, the challenges they face and creating solutions to address these. Such experiences help me put myself in my client's shoes.

Within the team, I also have a People role which is pivotal in setting the culture and team ethos that enables people to be themselves and succeed.

As someone who has a young family, time away from work is spent with them and I emphasise the importance of a healthy work-life balance. It's important to recognise when to prioritise this and teaches us that empathy towards ourselves can actually help when dealing with our work, clients and conflicting commitments.
