BDO has advised Waitrose & Partners on the sale of The Good Food Guide® to CODE Hospitality, a dedicated membership network for the UK hospitality industry.
The Good Food Guide® is a trusted restaurant guide that has celebrated the best places to eat out in the UK for seventy years.
Raymond Postgate first published The Good Food Guide® in 1951 with one simple aim: “to raise the standard of cooking in Britain and to do ourselves a bit of good by making our holidays, travels and evenings-out…more enjoyable.” Since its acquisition by Waitrose & Partners in 2013, The Good Food Guide® has continued to champion the best places to eat across the UK and produce a guide that is held in high esteem by chefs, restaurants and customers alike.
CODE will use its unique positioning within hospitality, along with its unrivalled industry knowledge and audience to continue to develop The Good Food Guide®, while growing its digital offering.
Integrity will remain at the heart of this heritage brand, with inspectors continuing to dine anonymously and their bills being paid in full by the Guide. Restaurants will continue only to be included in the guide based on their own merits. Elizabeth Carter, who has worked with the publication since the 1990s will continue her role as editor.
