BDO has provided financial, taxation and operational due diligence services on the majority investment in Fera Science by Bridgepoint Development Capital.
Bridgepoint Development Capital has agreed to acquire a 75% stake in Fera Science Limited ('Fera') from Capita, in a transaction valuing Fera at £80m.
Established in 2015 as a joint venture between Capita and the Department for Environment, Food & Rural Affairs (DEFRA), Fera provides expert laboratory (and field) based assurance, applied research, proficiency testing and data services to the public and private sector.
The partnership builds on Bridgepoint's track record and expertise in the Testing Inspection and Certification ('TIC') and agriTech markets. The TIC market is forecast to grow at 6-9% over the medium term, with Fera well-placed to capitalise on this given its differentiated service offering to some of the most attractive segments of the TIC market.
The BDO project team included:
Financial due diligence: Andrew Howson, Mark Jones, Freddie Sheehan, Sarah Paterson, Phoebe Yeung, Karishma Nagar, Sophia Li.
Tax due diligence: Brad Payne, James Boyd, Steven Rhodes, Robert Woodward, Amy Hoare, Greg Howe.
Operational due diligence: Richard Austin, Stephen Cooney, Will Ashley, Craig Jones.
Pensions advisory: Matthew Gibson, John Hubbleday.
