BDO has advised Specialist Risk Group on the acquisition of GB Underwriting.
Specialist Risk Group has acquired GB Underwriting, the UK-based specialist MGA. GB Underwriting provides specialist property and liability solutions to the UK broker market. It has particular expertise in supporting brokers whose clients operate within the building and construction sectors as well as associated specialist trades.
The acquisition of GB Underwriting complements SRG’s existing proposition and adds to its growing MGA capabilities.
SRG is a fast-growing insurance intermediary group and the acquisition follows the announcement in December 2020 of HGGC as the new majority shareholder of SRG, subject to regulatory approval. SRG was formed in July 2020 following the merger of Miles Smith, The Underwriting Exchange, Square Mile Broking and David Codling. SRG acquired Insolvency Risk Solutions in July 2020 and KBIS British Equestrian Insurance in January 2021.
